Why should I use a system Alfs?

After crossing the LFS and BLFS will quickly appreciate the ability to automate the task of compiling the software you want for your systems.

What can I do with Alfs?

Alfs's goal is to automate the process of creating a LFS system. It aims to make the process of building LFS easier and more efficient, while offering maximum flexibility with the user control and total understanding in the compilation and management of your system.

How is Alfs implemented?

  • nALFS

The first version of Alfs was nALFS by Neven Has. nALFS is a small program written in C. It first analyzes an XML profile that includes information on the process of building the workforce in a series of internal controls. E 'can then run these, at your discretion, to automate the compilation of LFS.

  • jhALFS

Currently, a official jhalfs. It was originally created by Jeremy Huntwork, but since it is developed and maintained by Manuel Canales Esparcia and George Boudeau, jhalfs became a lightweight, practical method of automating the LFS system.

The latest stable version is possipibile download it from here.

To use the development version of jhalfs, you can get it via svn with the command:

svn co svn://svn.linuxfromscratch.org/ALFS/jhalfs/trunk jhalfs

To find out which versions of books are supported by each version jhalfs, go to this page.
