Here's what the public about the study of Repubblica.it Social Netowrk. The article will be broken by brief comments to understand my thinking about the evolution that are undergoing the users and the network itself.

" The research debunks Pew injury: who uses the community on the web has a better chance to weave social relationships than others. He continues to prefer face to face ". They have more friends, are more tolerant and open to diversity, continue to prefer face to face relationships with family and loved ones, but they write very few letters. Here's the picture of the generation that uses mobile phones and social networks.

False. Using a social network but without prejudice to its being open to diversity. A person is able, without the development which is under the network, to tackle anything whatever, as long as there are conditions and worthy objectives. Basically it is not necessary to have in front of a computer monitor on facebook to accept or understand the differences. Using a mobile handset is now common to all and this boom led by the explosive social network and derivatives in the long run may be bad. A report face to face is necessarily something that a normal feature of daily life under each of us and not a synonym for those who use mobile phones and social networks. Heresies. For letter no comment.

Thought that behind the computer screen is concealed anti-social people who feared the world? We were wrong. To say this is an American survey conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, a non-profit and non-party that provides information on attitudes and trends in the United States and around the world.

This time to be analyzed is the relationship between isolation and technology, with particular interest to those means that over the last twenty years have replaced the old mode of interaction. And the result is amazing. Among the more than 3 thousand adult Americans interviewed by telephone, who frequents social networking, blogs or use the phone has more opportunities to forge relationships. The volume of social relationships is on average higher than 12% among those who use the phone and 9 among those who attended sharing sites or send emails. Since the last report on the topic dating back to 1985, the number of persons who confide their secrets but fell from three to two. But the use of technology is not related to this decrease.

Indeed, for those using the new social network contacts are more numerous and diverse than the others: only 45% of respondents to talk about important issues with people outside their family while he does 55% of Internet users. Those who have exchanged photos online, 61% chance of higher than average to have discussions with stakeholders with different political interests. Bloggers have a 95% chance of having relations with people of different ethnicity from their own. In other words, communication technologies are a factor of social integration.

FalseThe use of technology should not necessarily be related to social dysfunction and lack of integration. Who uses social networks for various strengths of what is closer contantto with the other world and the relationships that are imposed are more than a common user who cares instead of all this. Research should be another: how to use social networks and their users. Which use them 3 thousand people, or 300milioni is indifferent. The debate should be focused on the use made of it. Why not say that because of the social network in America, people lose jobs? Why not talk about the use made of it even when not necessary? Why do not you want to make things appear as they are instead of investigating gross things? Fortunately you are not all equal. Several are using them for advertising, marketing and business staff of its activities. E 'a way as any to get noticed. The problem, however, are the antics that are described with regard to important issues, secrets, the exchange of photos on the internet and so on. It 'just cling to the statistics but the questions between 1985 and today must inevitably be different and well-researched and should be noted inappropriate use of what we have in our hands and lacerations which cause in the near future.

According to Pew Research the new network to help expand their horizons and break down geographical barriers and racial. It turns out for example that those who use the phone has a larger pool of contacts by 25%, who is an interior base of 15% and the percentage is even more for those who are a sailor or a habitual user of chat services, or sharing images. Furthermore, people with whom to discuss important topics are for those who use the phone number greater than 12% for those who share files or use chat 9%. Customers are more likely to frequent bars of 45%, 69% eating in a restaurant and 42% for a walk in a public park. Who uses the new technology and also those who practice more volunteering on a local basis, as well as youth groups and charities.

One thing that will console the many detractors of the new forms of sociality is certainly relative isolation. Today, as in 1985, the percentage of American citizens who may be considered socially isolated remains equal to 6%. So do not add to the lonely or who have no knowledge with which to discuss or consider significant people in their lives, but differs in favor of those who use digital technology, the quality of relationships. One thing remains unchanged: one concerning the relationship with your loved ones. Respondents continue to prefer the face to face communication with regard to family and friends, people who like to go with an average of 210 days a year, contact with cell phones around 195 days a year, with 125 days to phones, e email almost 72 days, in chat 55 days and 39 days via social networks. And the letter? If we want the actual breakdown of the new technologies it is she that respondents claim to use an average of only 8 days per year.

True. Finally, a right side. The relationship face to face is more "clean" compared to an IM conversation. Especially when you look at a person in the eyes, mouth, the gesture that uses and understands how it is made and if you tease or not. Chats create misunderstandings and above all, in most cases, are used to waste time, to speak with the same person that we see (again according to statistics) 210 days a year. Repeat. We must think about how you use the chat and the use made of it. We prepare reports productivity among individuals who routinely use the chat rooms and social networking sites and those who do not use. And 'here the problem.

False. This 6% are common personal, classic, normal. The study are even defined socially isolated. What a shame.

Another fact is unexpected on relations with local realities: According to the Pew Research for who uses the internet makes it equally both to encourage relationships with people who live far away that to maintain local contacts. An exception, however, the members of Facebook: they are the ones to be less interested in knowing their neighbors. When they need support, companionship or help for family events like to chat with their Facebook contacts rather than with people nearby, but when the neighbors to need help do not hesitate to intervene.

True. All of this is horrifying. Given the strong relationship with diversity, considering also the " knowledge " that you speak with a person who is thousands of miles, you can talk about their dicks in this manner? I am stunned.

" The figure is part of a typical trend in human history says Keith Hampton, principal author of the report and professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, the same happened when he introduced the phone and is charged for the first time was possible to obtain social support outside the circle of the neighborhood. Social networks are just another example of how man uses communication technologies to achieve various kinds of interactions at distances from people we never met before ".

One that speaks to you in the past has used both the social network that chat, but he realized dell'improduttività constant obtained. The days passed without my realizing the goals I set myself and that I had achieved. When I realized a lot has changed, fortunately. unfortunately there are people who chat and their own custom social network, regardless of time or have any other priority. These people are constantly growing, especially after the fashion facebook. I call it just a fad because it's a waste that surely will cause the "victims". In my humble opinion, these statistics do not make much sense especially for the standard report and the questions that have been requested. The question is always how one uses things, not who uses them.

NEWS: Botnets and their illicit purposes PDF Print
Friday, 11 December 2009 22:33

That's what today brings Repubblica.it:

The bad news is all in the latest survey conducted by Trend Micro on security of computers around the world. According to the Japanese multinational company, a large proportion of machines affected by cybercriminals remain infective for more than two years: a very long time, during which multiply the opportunities for infection and can be handled by this or that villain.

The investigation covers the so-called " zombie computers " , ie " asleep ". This is PC at some point they are " captured "; by a botmasters - a kind of  "head "; of the network - which puts them behind their backs in a circuit Bot. At this point the infected computers themselves become complicit in illegal activities orchestrated by the master, contributing to the spread of software " evil " (so-called " malware "), most notably viruses and Trojan horses.

According to a study by Trend Micro, a leader in information security, in many countries a significant amount of PC is " sick " for over two years, leaving plenty of time for hackers to compromise millions of computers every day. Only in Italy, the zombie computers that remain so for at least two years are more than one million and a half to be exact, 1,585,228 units. Globally, the average duration of infection of PCs is equal to 300 days in the most affected countries, but you can touch points of ten years without diagnosis. Overall, 80 percent of compromised machines are infected for more than a month, and this explains the fact that over 90 percent of all email sent worldwide is made up of  " spam ", that is rubbish.

After all, the data collected by the multinational Japanese say something even more severe: as much as 25% of compromised IP addresses is attached to business realities, and then to entire networks of machines infected. Legions of zombies that lurk in homes and offices around the world, able to overwhelm entire servers and put them out of service. Also why the  " bot-net " have become a source of primary interest to organized crime, particularly effective as a system to make money illegally.

Among the routine actions of botnets are the  " denial of service ", namely the massive attack against someone, spam, malware spread through the supply of products which are often illegal, and  " phishing " activity aimed to steal passwords and credentials for the purpose of theft and money laundering. For administrators of these networks, the recruitment of new PC is almost a breeze. In addition to infection via e-mail, you can become a zombie also passing once in a web page provided with a threat. The problem, then, is not notice for years and contribute to the exponential growth of the circuits illegal.

The only solution for users, is often to protect their computers, making constant scrutiny and relying on the latest technologies. For its part, Trend Micro recommends your security software, Smart Protection Network, which is proving particularly effective in limiting the contagion. Every day - make the proponents of the platform - the Smart Network block more than four billion threats. Record numbers, making it a good idea of how many zombies there are around the Net.

Broadband, reflections PDF Print

We are bombarded by advertising of all types of telephone calls from traders seeking to foist anything to earn the right to their meager salary. Let's face it: today have an ADSL connection, is something absolutely and strictly important. Anyone sending an email, everyone needs to verify a site, anyone who must verify their bank account, anyone who uses various chat and social networking. Anyone with internet access, work there.

Now what they are looking at an Italian buying a subscription ADSL is primarily speed. Limits on consumption of ADSL or fees are exceeded. We went forward together since last year but we are going backwards compared to other countries in Europe. Returning to the points mentioned above regarding the speed, I have a note to add.

A potential buyer and then an end user actually does not need excessive speed-dependent. Most people believe that having a subscription at 20 - 24 Mbps is something exceptional. Unfortunately, and I say unfortunately, is not always the case. Activate a subscription of such high speed is not difficult (if there is a cover note). The problem comes later. When? Well, just when you do not reach the speed hoped for. From that moment the customer falls in a more total despair, we grieve for their choices and not because he understands absolutely everything is wrong.

Actually untested lines are activated according to the profile that can actually support. In fact, the Italian lines are old and is under the monopoly Telecom Italy. Significant aspects in order to develop something that, as well as update it and rebuild it if necessary, the most often times is not possible because the same Telecom Italy, where the " work " is required for another operator on n provides for no kind of motivation to fulfill the request. The consequences can imagine. Traders that activate subscriptions as a river in flood, end users not satisfied with the type of subscription you have chosen. The other step, which brings even more amazing and certainly one of them will carry out further notice to move to another company. The increase in pain occurs when activated an additional subscription, perhaps having promised the same slot the previous subscription, you find that even the operator has managed to evade our request.

This is just one of many examples that I could do. The cost of ADSL services are too expensive compared to a France which has 3 - 4 times the Fees lower than ours. Subscriptions that are applied to try to push the user to make a single subscription for all series of possible services (ADSL + voice). Meanwhile the prices do not move. The latest fashion, if one may so call it, affects the supply of free national calls with or without connection fee. Too little. The use of the Internet will become indispensable and most transactions will be done through it. Not to mention the importance that has the phone today.

Then accumulate faults that a customer may have during the subscription period, as the absence of carrier, degradation of the line, common issues in Central Asia, tampering with the technical (this also happens, I assure you note), to increase with excessive regret situation of ours. Unfortunately in Italy the problem is that too.

The network is not being divided, such as it is in the UK and create this kind of prejudices and problems that certainly will not be solved soon. The monopoly is one, the others must act according to the preset functions. The costs are still too excessive to say that use broadband to what it really is. Contempt of users is likely to bring down even the slightest certainty.

The comments are plausible provided they have a logical link to the speech Treaty. The theme ADSL in Italy is a rather delicate issue that will certainly make an impact in the near future. There is no progress even if the government continues to rattle their adventures of total coverage by 2010.

What I can say is that currently, the Internet is priceless. All we need it.

CLOUD COMPUTING, opinion of Richard Stallman PDF Print
Friday, 11 December 2009 11:42

Opinion of the most famous programmer, hacker, activist of the open source movement (and other) indicates that cloud computing is evil. This is what emerged from an article posted a few months ago on a site that defines the thinking of Richard Stallman and the causes that result.

Richard Stallman gives especially the Gmail service of Google. Verbatim quotes:  " If you use a proprietary program or somebody else's server, you're defenseless. You are like clay in the hands of the developer of that software. "; In fact, as already commented on the site I want to give an opinion on this I also hope to understand his thinking in reality as a reason people. Personally I do not use chat rooms, do not use social networks, use my mail box by downloading the mail directly into my HD. This chat and social network seems to be the fad. Someone who follows the fashion set by Stallman idiot can say I am an asocial, that is a person out of context, a fanatic. Actually I think there is any harm in the worst chat. How many of you after an evening spent chatting and realized that for some reason had to do some work, but just for not doing it hard, even a simple program to watch TV or read up a book or whatever you find that has not done any of this .

And for what? To hear a friend, boyfriend / a, (which by the way you see every day or almost) or even a simple addition to childhood. And what's more, that very short childhood companion will come to nothing. It happens that this conversation makes no sense for both chattanti but more importantly, also creates concerns, is given a virtual knowledge of the person who surely will create a future context of argument.

Know how? I propose a very trivial example, simple and real: you're chatting with your girlfriend for any reason you need to move from the PC because it must pass a friend to bring a DVD, or because we have to go change and is more comfortable. In short, any situation involving a move away from the computer without notifying the person to chat with. Know what will happen in this case? Well, our girlfriend will not understand that our absence and will start to think things completely untrue, will start to re-read the speech made as of now, will start to heat up because she did not speak to me and start to get in mind a number of situations recently pleasant.

Result? Quarrel colossal mistake and not just because duely (both clear NDR) we have drifted for 5 - 10 minutes to watch from our desktop. This, in a real situation is what happens with the use of chat, but apart from that I think do not lead to anything. Not culturally enrich its users, create prejudices exist, and feels a "lack" really embarrassing the person with whom you are not interjected. I do not know if I was clear enough but I think it's a shame the context, but above all, as currently they are exploited. Not to mention the social network where, in addition to our personal data are put at risk our personal photos of our beloved, unforgettable travel shared by all or by using options from a friend. That makes you smile is that this garbage is for no other than being the affairs of others and make the whole unproductive.

Recently, in USA, you ran a poll that shows that since there are chat rooms and social networking, but especially since they have evolved so as now, the productivity of employees or those who have greater strength due to "forced "to work behind a desk with an LCD monitor in front, spend most of their time to hear people via chat, which could easily converse in a moment of pause or end of your turn, or even write your own status on Facebook. This causes a decrease in business audible and lost productivity when these people will be forced to work rather than chatting.

I believe there are no other words to add.

All this is ridiculous.
